IISER Kolkata Junior Research Fellow (JRF) MS/MSc/M.Tech degree in physics/physical chemistry/biophysics/applied mathematics/computer science
Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in the project "Theoretical biophysics of molecular competition in gene expressions" under the guidance of Dr. Dipjyoti Das (Assistant Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, IISER Kolkata) and funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (DST, Government of India). The project generally aims to mathematically model random chemical reactions in gene expressions using the tools of stochastic simulations and theory of non-equilibrium statistical physics.

The position is available for 1 year, and extendable for another 1 year based on performance. The opportunity of continuing the research towards a Ph.D can also be considered if the student can acquire his/her own fellowship after two years.

Required qualifications:

MS/MSc/M.Tech degree in physics/physical chemistry/biophysics/applied mathematics/computer science  (or in any related engineering and science field with  comprehensive  course works in applied mathematics/physics/probability & statistics) with minimum 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.00/10.

Experience of coding in C/C++/FORTRAN.

The candidate should be strongly motivated to pursue mathematical calculations and code writing in an interdisciplinary environment.

 Preference  will  be  given  to  candidates  who  have  qualified  national level exams (NET, GATE,  JEST etc.), but do not have financial support from an independent fellowship.
