ACCOUNTABILITIES
Advise the concerned departments in planning and organizing measures necessary for the effective control of personal injuries;
Advise on safety aspects in all job studies, and to carry out detailed job safety studies of selected jobs;
Check and evaluate the effectiveness of the action taken or proposed to be taken to prevent personal injuries;
Advise the purchasing and stores departments in ensuring high quality and availability of personal protective equipment;
Advise on matter related to carrying out plant safety inspections;
Carry out plant safety inspections in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by workers and to render advice on measures to be adopted for removing the unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers;
Render advice on matters related to reporting and investigation of industrial accidents and diseases;
investigate selected accidents;
investigate the cases of industrial diseases contracted and dangerous occurrences reportable under Rule 123;
advise on the maintenance of such records as are necessary relating to accidents, dangerous occurrence and industrial diseases;
promote setting up of safety committees and act as adviser and catalyst to such committees;
organize in association with the concerned departments, campaigns, competitions, contests and other activities which will development and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedures; and
Design and conduct either independently or in collaboration with the training department, suitable training and educational programmes for the prevention of personal injuries.
Provision of EHS support to develop successful partnerships with long term contract companies and their staff.
Provide ongoing BSP coaching and assessment for all levels of the organisation.
Facilitate the implementation of new or revised Global or local company EHS Standards and training materials;
Support EHS aspects of plant trouble shooting, shutdown and operational deviations to ensure all activities are kept in compliance
Support in implementation of applicable EHS local / National standards, procedures, training, tools, audit questions and local documents based on local legal requirements and aligned to global work processes in particular SWIMS for waste management, emergency and crisis management planning etc
To conduct EHS audits and to provide EHS compliance oversight for EHS management system and procedures specific to Kochi
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Engineering (Typically Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical) or M. Sc/B. Sc in Physics/Chemistry.
Possesses a degree or diploma in industrial safety recognized by the Kerala State Government
Minimum 6 years’ experience in gas, petrochemical, or related industries.
Strong Knowledge of EH&S Legislation and compliance strategies.
Knowledgeable in Process safety, awareness of the importance of Hazard Review, Quantitative Risk Analysis, Management of change, Process Safety Management (PSM).
Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and customer relation skill.
Demonstrated ability to work in matrix organization, across functional and reporting relationships.
Excellent communication and influencing skills are a major requirement for the job holder.
Able to handle high level communication with customer on EHS matters.
Fluent in oral English, Malayalam and excellent written English.
