Walk in interview on December 19, 2019 for the positions of
two Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Chemical Sciences at
IISER Kolkata
Applications are invited for the positions of Junior
Research Fellow (two positions) in the Department of Chemical Sciences (DCS),
IISER Kolkata. These positions are funded by the Indian Institute of Science
Education and Research Kolkata. Each JRF position will be awarded for a period
of two years, and may be extended to Senior Research Fellow based on the
research progress and performance.
JRF Position 1:
1. Research Area: Theoretical and Computational Biophysical
Chemistry (Focus: Nucleic acids structure-function)
2. Funding source: IISER Kolkata
3. Principle Investigator: Dr. Susmita Roy, Assistant
Professor, Dept. of Chemical Sciences
4. Remuneration: JRF (Rs. 31000)
5. Tenure: Two years (extendable to SRF based on the
research progress and performance)
6. Basic Eligibility Criteria: (i) First class (or CGPA OF
7.0 and above at a scale of 10) in MSc in Chemistry (Physical (preference),
Inorganic, Organic) or MSc in Physics, (ii) Qualified CSIR-UGC NET (including
LS) or GATE examination,
7. Desirable qualification: Candidate is expected to have
strong interest in doing computational chemistry research with good
understanding of physical chemistry/chemical physics concepts.

JRF Position 2:
1. Research Area: Organic Semiconductors and Molecular
Self-assembly
2. Funding source: IISER Kolkata
3. Principle
Investigator: Dr. Debansu Chaudhuri, Associate Professor, Dept. of Chemical
Sciences
4. Remuneration: JRF (Rs. 31000)
5. Tenure: Two years (extendable to SRF based on the
research progress and performance).
6. Basic Eligibility Criteria: (i) M.Sc. in Chemistry with
1st class or equivalent, (ii) Qualified CSIR-UGC NET (including LS) or GATE
examination
7. Desirable qualification: Candidate is expected to work in
the interface of Physical and Organic chemistry. Exposure to synthetic organic
chemistry techniques and supramolecular chemistry is desired.

**Conditions: No TA / DA will be provided to the candidate
for the interview. The decision of the selection committee will be final. The
selected candidate may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of
tenure, if their performance is deemed unsatisfactory. The requirements of
minimum qualification and/or experience and age may be relaxed in the case of
candidates with outstanding credentials.
