Fellow E (Scientist ‘D’) - Incharge, Drosophila
Facility - 1 post
The Drosophila facility is a core facility for
scientists of the Bangalore Life Sciences Cluster (BLiSc) that includes inStem,
the National Centre for Biological Science (NCBS) and the Centre for Cellular
and Molecular Platforms which share a campus and research facilities. The Fly
Facility comprises laboratories situated within the BLiSc campus. It
provides services and training to a range of users. This position involves
management and coordination of operations of the Drosophila Facility. The head
of the fly facility is expected to lead a team of up to ten staff whose work
includes Drosophila stock maintenance and distribution, transgenesis and genome
engineering. The head of the Drosophila facility is expected to manage projects
in all of these areas and also develop and implement emerging technologies for
research using Drosophila. Training programs and outreach activities are
encouraged.
Eligibility & Essential qualifications:
Essential:
- PhD in life sciences or other allied
sciences.
- Candidates should possess a track record
of research accomplishments including demonstrable evidence of strong
technical expertise in Drosophila biology.
- Experience in managing the work and output
of a team of individuals
Desirable qualifications:
5-year experience of accomplishment in modern
Drosophila molecular genetics including methods in genome engineering.
Age Limit: Below 45 years.

Scale of pay: PB-3 (Rs. 15600-39100) with GP 7600 (Level 12 of 7th CPC)
Nature of Appointment: Direct Recruitment with
probation for 2 years.
